The Neolithic
The New Stone Age or Neolithic is mostly represented by rich materials found in the systematic excavations at Smilčić, a site in the Zadar hinterland. The selected examples of ceramics, stone and bone objects illustrate everyday life, the spirituality and artistic achievements of the cultures which flourished between 7000 and 2500 BC in Northern Dalamatia. At the same time they are strongly connected to the identical phenomena in the entire Adriatic and wider Mediterranean area.
